To
say " This cannot be"
Is yourself not to know, and not to see!
And not to count yourself,
For
all that here my be !
You ,the Creator's image, mirrorless I
"Tis dungeoning, see!
The creator of all circumstances, free!
Putting him on a pile of crushed straw for
a sleep
In a prison, deep!
Why cant they be? Why not?
In this very earth,
The grapes, the apples-things of dearth?
Tuck up your sleeves,
Snatch up your spade and go a-digging please
Why not?
Come, hot!
This is the plot!
Behold !
Where through the fruits that have a birth,
You see yourself, your worth!
Yet here is a perpetual want,
A single want.
'Tis true!
And That is you! Just a creator!
And a Maintainer! And an Annihilator!
The Three in One!
One god , One True! And That is You!
Extensive is the native earth! O wide!
What fertilising virtue does it lack?
its worth deride?
Only one man is wanted here, Under the blue.
And that is You!
Suppose you die upon the way!
Dead ,do you find yourself all day,
Awalking still , awaking still,
To the goal that's far away,
Here , being striven after, by the quick In
all Today!
The Scriptures will come true' Have faith'
Your soul shall suffer no death!
Atheists shall we never be, 'Tis clear !
Finding you walking with us here!
The nothing fears one Thing and dies;-
The living You! Arise!
"Can't be" is Nought, All-Still;
"Can be" is blessed, Soul, a swelling, and
a spill;
The first is but a grave;
The second is Miracle, its first wave;
For in our land we feel one hidden Want,
We know it and we knew;
I girded, Steady Being, Mocker
Of the World-Destroyer!
And That is You;
You, animator of the dead, and dying worlds!
Here is One Only want, 'tis true!
And That is You!
