Poems of the Century

.

 - Siddhicharan Shrestha
(1912 - 1992)

Midst lovely bloom and tender grass
And budding leaves of arbours green
How soul enchanting is thy dance!
O butterfly, how hast thou been
A significant successful!
Companion of the Beautiful!

In this thy dance divine, O creature!
Past life arises with rich measure
Of happy events, like a piece
Of colours fluttering, in the breeze
Of memory that ripples, fleet!
What light reflects undying, sweet!

Charming the scene, the sunlight soft!
My heart with rich emotions fraught!
New animation fills my pores
My life's celestial chariot soars!
Thus let me drive and steer my car!
Such is my aim, creature dear!
Far solitude's faint echoes ring!
Quick dancer on the charming wing!
Green is this plot of nature, new!
This poet's life realize true!
Thou art the coloured leaf, air sweeper!
Of the thing called Rainbow creeper!

In the quick breeze's slothful spell
With thee I run among shoots that swell,
I gently stir the responsive air,
Make every one love me so fair!
Like the I make my life a bliss!
A thing of joy, just as I wish!
