Poems of the Century

.

- Goma
(1926)

I was born into this world my life became mere dream
You thwarted all my hopes in darkness on these trails so dim
I submitted my tender life to your heart hard as stone
You finished all the treasures and all the affections were gone
You are so unkind you shattered my entire life
I move around shedding tears depressed but alive
Carrying bags of frustration in this vacant world
In this sorrowful life of mine hope still grows
Love be not rootless let it blossom and bear fruits
Let us create a bright dawn let hope grow in tender shoots
You unkind lover I want to keep the warmth of my body
Keeping it warm keeping it dry I'll bedeck the pyre.
